The pathways within these sectors provide a foundation in the Engineering, Building and Construction Trades industries for MDUSD students. Students engage in an instructional program that integrates academic and technical preparation and focuses on career awareness, career exploration, and skill preparation in the both the
Engineering and Building and Construction Trades industry sectors. Students in these pathways leave prepared for technical training, postsecondary education, and/or entry to a career. MDUSD offers residential and commercial construction, engineering technology and manufacturing pathways within its schools. Students within these pathways can design and build a tiny house. They can also participate in robotics’ competitions. Industry partners include the Northern California Carpenter’s Union, ENGEO, Marathon Petroleum, and Chevron.

Schools
The engineering pathway at Northgate HIgh School help prepare students for the global workforce. Introduction to Engineering Design and Principles of Engineering are Project Lead The Way (PLTW) courses which encourages student participation in science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) courses and build their interest in STEM degrees and careers.
The Engineering Pathway of the ACME Academy uses a hands-on collaborative approach to build a culture of learning and support for students through a four-year program instilling skills that are essential to the field of Engineering.
