Culinary & Hospitality
The Hospitality, Tourism, and Recreation industry sector provides students with the academic and technical preparation necessary to pursue high-skill, high-demand careers in these related and growing industries. MDUSD offers a food service and hospitality pathway. This encompasses the student run restaurant, Serendipity Cafe, at Mt. Diablo High School. Through this pathway, students learn, through hands-on projects, work based learning and leadership development, the skills in both hospitality and restaurant management. Students not only run the restaurant but they also support industry and community partners with catering, learning how to serve the needs of a client. Students earn the ServSafe certificate while in this pathway. Industry partners
include Pacific Coast Farmers Market Association, Sysco Foods, Crowne Plaza, and Central Sanitations. Students graduate prepared for technical training, postsecondary education, and/or entry to a career.
